August 2011

It's been so long since I've posted to I tried to use few words and lots of pictures..so, this post is all about August but keep scrolling and you'll see I posted pictures from both July and June.  I am considering myself caught up! :)

So far in August we traveled to Indiana by plane...something I will never do again with a small child. I wanted to jump out the window. Ryan handled it much better than I did, I was a stressed out mess! My sweet husband turned 30!!! He can no longer give me grief about being in my 30's while he was in his 20's. He has officially joined the club. He also did it in style by having 3 separate parties....there was just so many people who love him we had to celebrate with them all! :)  Over all it was a GREAT trip.

Meeting Grandpa Jones at Arnie's (our favorite pizza place in Columbus) when we got into town.
The special thing about this trip was that besides Ryan's dad and step-mom Wes hasn't met any of his extended family who lives in Indiana so we did A LOT if visiting strangers who very quickly became friends/family!
Wes meeting Uncle Danny--a person I'm sure he will not soon forget! :)

Ryan and Wes with his Wes' Great Grandma, B Smith.

Aunt Susan (married to Dan) and Cousin Becky (Ryan's best friend growing up)

Uncle George and Aunt Dede (Married)

Wes getting ready for his first ride in the Burley!  Even after many rides I'm not sure he knew what he really thought about it.  We rode bike a few times while we were there and it was so much fun.  Ryan and I even rode a Tandem bike a couple of times and had a blast.  Mostly I had a blast because I could mess with his from the back and he couldn't do a thing about it---it was killing him.  :)

We went swimming a few times at Great Grammy and Grampy's house.  Wes loved it.  He threw a full on fit when it was time to get out.

One day while everyone was at work we went to the Indianapolis Zoo which was very cool.  They had a huge salt water tank that kept Wes entertained for quite a while...

There was a shark tank where you could pet the sharks as they swam by.  That's Ryan's hand you see in the picture.  I tried to do it but pulled back every time they came close.  There is just some thing about sharks that totally creep me out...I don't care how little they are.
Maybe it's because I watch the Today show everyday while I get ready for work and there is always a shark attack somewhere that they talk about...it's ruined me.  It freaks me out!

Wes also loved watching the sea lions swim back and forth in front of the tank.

Train ride

They had a sweet dolphin show we went to--seriously what is wrong with our zoo?  It is so lame compared to this one.

Another day we went to Cincinnati, Ohio and went to the aquarium.  Afterwards we had dinner and then walked down the pier where there was live music, sea food, and carnival things.  It was so much fun.  Thanks to Greg and Teresa for taking us! :)

Ryan, Grandpa Jones, Teresa, and Wes-man under one of the many walk through tanks in the aquarium.  It was a sweet place, it was huge!

Here we are in front of one of the side windows of the shark tank.  Again...creepy!  I just kept thinking to myself, "one small crack in this glass and we are all goners!"  I've seen Jaws I saw that shark attack the glass of that restaurant...it just takes one angry shark! :)

"Shark Bait"  :)
Like I mentioned, we have 2 birthday parties for Ryan in Indiana and one here.  This was from a huge family/extended family party.  The tractor was pretty cool! :)

Ryan with his Grammy (Grandpa Jones' mom)

Wes made a new friend.  He missed his dog but Abby made up for it.  :)  They played a lot of fetch.  And by the end of the visit he was calling her "Ab".

Wes with his Great Grampy

Wes with his Great Grammy...She loved him so much.  He teased that she had to get in her daily dose of Wes.  She is one of the kindest, most loving people I've ever met.  Her and Grampy both--both are just very good people.
Grammy I know you're ready this and I mean it, you truly are.

This was right before we left for the airport.  One last picture to hold us off till the next visit. :)

Here are just a few random pictures of our little buddy!  We love him so much.  He is interacting so much and loves to play and be with us.  He is our littlest best friend.  He is growing up so much and wants to be so independent.  In fact, the sitter told Ryan yesterday that she put Wes down for a nap in a play pen, went back down stairs and a few minutes later she heard a thump so she went up stairs to see what it was.  She didn't wasn't to disturb him so she listened at the door and then she heard this tiny little knock!  She opened the door and there was Wes.  He had crawled OUT of the play pen!  I know our days are numbered before he is crawling/falling out of his crib.  He is growing up too fast! ;(

He got a new monster towel...it has teeth! :)

He's the bestest little guy ever...he needs a sibling!

July 2011

We went camping up Ogden Canyon.  We had an amazing camp spot and good company.  It all made for a relaxing weekend which is what I was looking for.  :)
Chillin in the tent before it was time to go to bed.

Wes and Ryan took a nap on Saturday afternoon.  :)

My parents came with us.

We showed Wes what button to push on the camera and now all he wants to do is take pictures!  This is me while changing his diaper! :)  There were about 10 more just like it.

Wes and I lounging around after we both had a shower...well me a shower and Wes a bath :)

On the 4th of July we went to the Bee's game.  Although, Wes got tired and we missed the fireworks :(

  MY FIRST OFFICIAL 5K

As I have posted before--I have become a "runner".  This was from my first official 5K.  I went with my sister, Britt (left) and my "running partner" Gina.  She is the one who first invited me to go running and since has become a good friend.
LISA: Between me and you...not THAT good of friend! :)
GINA:  Gina, don't worry I have to tell her things like that so that she doesn't get too jealous of our friendship! :)
Ha Ha, love you both! :)

Gina's husband, Anthony, ran it as well--he killed us all.  These pictures were taken after the race that's why we all look a little flushed! :)

Ryan captured me crossing the finish line.  I really enjoy running, I never said I was fast of that I do it because I am a speed racer.  In fact, in high school when I would run the bases while playing softball my coached and parents would often yell, "unhitch the piano and RUN!"  So, for my first 5K and my first summer running I finished the race in 34 minutes!  You may laugh but I was very proud of myself! :) and still am.

Ok...let me explain this picture!  It is actually zoomed in from the picture above.  If you know me at all you know I have always had crazy man calves.  They have always been muscly but, HERE IS THE PROOF--LOOK AT THE CALF MUSCLE!!!  That is CRAZY-SICK if you ask me!  What can I say my abs may never be made of steel but my legs are! :)

<> Here we all are BEFORE the race.

Also, in the beginning of July we took a bunch of our residents to Lagoon.  We had a BLAST!!!  We were able to get a few of them to dress up and take an old fashion picture with us.  :)  (This is a picture I took with my cell phone of the original picture, not the best quality)

June 2011

I mentioned that we went to Bryce Canyon on our frist family camp out, here are some of our pictures...

Catching Up...

I can't seem to stay up to date with our blog...sorry to those of you who rely on this as your main source of "Jones Information".  But, honestly I can't see things changing for a while--Ryan would appreciate my honestly here. :)  I only say that because when I get ready in the mornings I put Wes on our bed with a little bowl of cereal and it leaves crumbs everywhere so each night we have to clean out all the crumbs from our bed before we can go to sleep.  Ryan was doing this the other night and said, "Can you stop letting Wes eat in our bed?"  I looked over from washing my face and said, "Sorry, I'm never going to change."  He laughed and said, "Well, at least you're honest!" :)  So, again I'd like to say that I'll be better at blogging I just don't see it happening.

I'd just like to give a quick (haha) update as to what we've been up to this summer...

1) We canceled our TV as of June 1st.  We actually still have about 5 channels but we RARELY even turn the TV on.  We are TV watchers and we just decided that there are just too many other things we can do in the summer than sit and watch TV.  And we have had a great time!  Sometimes I wonder what we fill our days with besides work because we seem to get home just about the time Wes is ready to fall into bed.  I thought it would harder to not have TV but I haven't really missed it AT ALL!  Although, I do enjoy the Today Show each morning between 7:30 and 8:00 while I get ready for work. I would miss that. :)

2) We have both increased our exercise.  Ryan is riding his bike to work more frequently and has really liked that.  I have kept up my running.  Last Saturday I ran 6.5 miles--my longest distance yet! :)  I was really proud of myself.  I've also lost 26 lbs since March so I think I'll keep up the running, it's been good to me.  I'm running my first official 5K this Saturday.  It's just the North Salt Lake 5K but it also just so happens to be though our neighborhood which is kind of convenient.  Then I'm doing the Dirty Dash (10K) in September and my friend may be putting together a half marathon at the end of the summer which is my goal!!!  I'd love to be able to do it--"I think I can!" :)

Oh, and I found out that there is a Disneyland half marathon where you run through the park...So, friends who run what do you say about a girls weekend next year?  Running and Disneyland--HELLO!  :)  It's in September but you have to register by February.

3)  Wes is AWESOME!!!  He had tubes put in his ears at Primary Children's Hospital in the beginning of June and it is like we have a new happy baby again!  His ears must have been causing his constant pain because he just seems to much better now.  He used to scream every time you tried to lay him down to change his diaper and now he doesn't even seem to care.  His hearing was way below normal but at is follow-up he was in the normal range.  He says mama, dad, nana (banana), and bye.  It is the cutest thing EVER!!!  He is so loving and still like to cuddle which I can't get enough of.  He's sleeping through the night again.  There for awhile he woke up screaming every night (I think because of his ears) and we'd bring him our bed...I know bad mama but it would help him sleep and when we both have to get up and work in the morning 3-4 hours of sleep while we let him "cry it out" didn't cut it.  He loves being out side and has discovered slides.  We have a play ground a couple of houses away and he will go down the slide, walk around, climb up, and do it all over again, and again, and again.  He usually cries the whole way home! :)   He loves music especially the Black Eyed Peas and Michael Jackson.  Which leads me to my next question...at what age does this kind of music become inappropriate? :)  Right now he just dances to the beat, words don't matter, but one day they will and we'll have to change over to Radio Disney.  :)  The kid is hilarious!  He even cracks up at himself...he gets very slap happy when he's tired.  He also likes to wear my head bands because he sees them on me when I go running.  He had his first hair cut! :)  I did much better than I thought I would but we woke up one morning and I couldn't take the "fro" anymore!!! :)  Oh, let me explain the orange shirt picture:  1) He knows where his nose is and 2) Ryan straightened his hair!!! :)  Although, usually when you as, "Where's your nose?" he find a nostril to put his finger in.

4) We took Wes on his first camping trip.  I'm surprised Ryan lasted 14 months to take him camping.  We went to Bryce Canyon.  It was a lot of fun.  We hiked, ate good food, and were amazed at how tired camping with a toddler made us. :)  It was different than what we were used to.  I will post more picture of camping in the next post..whenever that is.

5) I've been playing softball with our stake every Saturday which has been fun.  It's not very competitive but I get frustrated since it seems like I'm always put on the team that looses.  I also have to remember that I'm not 17 any more and can't through the ball, run the bases, or hit like I used to.  Sometimes I get the itch to just throw as hard as I can and have reel myself back in and remember that I will need my arm later in the day.  Tonight Ryan and I played with my little sister ward and Ryan had a blast...I've got to get that guy on a summer team.  Although, I had to give a little coaching and remind him not to dip his elbow when hitting.  He hit quite a few straight up.  Then he got mad at me for giving advice so I shut my mouth, he kept his arm up, and hit like no bodies business.  The little wiffy knows more than he'd like to admit!:)
6) I'm reading "Runner's World" magazine.  Ryan ordered it for my as a surprise...he said it was to support my new hobby.  He's a good husband!  I'm also reading the 4th book in the Vampire Academy Series...I like it.

7) We have seen a couple of movies this summer...I went to Kung Fu Panda with my mom and Wes, while Ryan saw X-men with my dad.  I liked the move...Po finds out he's adopted, it was really cute. :)

8) Ryan entered the world of iPhones today!  He got his 2 year renewal from Verizon today and could barely wait till his lunch break to run over and get it.  But, what do you think...the white iPhone is more feminine than masculine, right?  I'm trying to convince him to trade me...girls should have white and boys should have black...back me up on this one! :)

I think that's it...if you made it this far CONGRATULATION and you may have more time on your hands that you know what to do with!  :)

Oh, and we have Saturday tickets for Harry Potter and we can't wait...anyone want to babysit?
Happy Summering!

Wes's best friend, Gabe, turned 1 last week and this picture was from his party...I thought it captured Wes perfectly when a camera is put in his face, he hams it up bug time! So, I stole the picture.  Thanks Lisa! :)

"Addicting"

So, many of you who know me will be very surprised about this post because it came as a surprise to me!! :)  But, I like running!  Seriously, I have tried this all before but never really found it enjoyable and always felt like it was punishment for not being naturally skinny!
But, at the beginning of March I got an email for a girl in my ward that she she was getting a group together to go running in the mornings 3 times a week.  This seemed perfect, other than I didn't run!  So, I emailed back saying I was in if they could move the time from 6:30am to 6:15am and I let her know I was not a runner.  But, being one of the sweetest people I have come to know write back and told the group that the new time was at 6:15am and she wanted me there!  Well, now I had to go the time changed for me...and I did.
I got up stinkin early to meet the group on the corner...just grateful that first morning was a 2 1/5 mile walk/jog.  But, soon there was no walking.  Sometimes me and another girl were left walking while everyone went ahead because I couldn't keep up.  I remember that first day one of the girls said that "running is addicting" I laughed in my head and thought, "I hate running how could anyone think it is fun or addicting!"  As the weeks went on I began to find myself liking it a little more each time and it became a game to see how far I could go.  Now, understand to someone who is an avid runner this post is a joke but for me a was SO OUT OF SHAPE and couldn't stand running more than 5 minutes at a time.  But, I was determined to get better.  So, outside of the regular runs with the group I would go running by myself to see how far a could go.  The first time I went out was just to see if I could go 1 MILE!!!  Yes, I felt like I was back in 7th grade.  But, I did it.  1 mile running, 1 walking, and a 3rd running.  It felt good and I couldn't wait to go with the group again to try out my new found mile.  Then it was 1 1/2 miles, then 2.  I was so happy when I ran two miles without stopping I text the group to celebrate!  :)  Lame I know! :)  But, then one Saturday I just decided I was staying with the other girls and doing THREE miles.  I DID!!!  Oh, and I sprinted the last 30 yards and threw up when we were done! Since then I have ran 3 miles 3 times a week (well only for 2 weeks) and even though I still get excited I have to stop throwing up arms up in the air and yelling, "I just ran a 5K!"  It think after the 5th time it is no longer news to anyone.  But, for someone who has hated running this is huge for me!
I may be experiencing a little bit of the ADDICTION that girl was talking about because I love the days we run and I think about running the days we don't.  I talked to the group and I think we are going to add another day a week.  I love it...It's sick I know! :)

So, I got me some good running shoes that I LOVE...

Ryan got me a new sports bra, socks, and running shirt for Mother's Day
All of which I am in love with and make going even better because I get to wear new stuff! :)
Oh, and I've lost 15 lbs since March 1st...so, that has been an added bonus! :)

CHANGES...

So many changes!  We worry about how he will cope with all the changes but...WHAT ABOUT ME!!! :)People always say "they grow up so fast" and "cherish this time" and "before you know it they are walking"...well, they are all RIGHT!!!  Wes is growing up way too fast, I make myself cherish this time because I want to remember every second I spend with him, and before I knew it he was WALKING!!!  This kid is killing me with how fast he's changing and growing.  It's like he's no longer a little baby, he's a little man with opinions, and wants, and ideas!  It's crazy! :)  He is now 13 months and here are a few of the crazy grown up things my little baby is doing...
  • Well, 3 weeks ago he weened himself off the binki!  I went to pick him up one day from the sitter and she said she forgot to give it to him for his nap but he didn't fuss so she didn't go in and give it to him at all.  So, that night we put him to sleep without and he slept just fine...and he's never taken a binki since.  If fact, Ryan found one the other day and gave it to him just to see what he would do and he put it in his mouth and a minute later took it out, handed it to Ryan, and shook his head "no".  It was too funny.
  • The same day the binki happened the dr. told us to ween him off the bottle.  I told Ryan this and he looked like he might cry and in a sad voice said, "This is too many changes, he's too little for all these changes."  It was kind of funny, but since that day Wes has not used a bottle.  Sippy cups only!
  • He eats anything and everything!  He loves apple jacks as a snack and loves spaghetti for dinner.
  • We're pretty sure he says "Chase"--it is pretty much the only word/sound he uses every time to describe the same thing.  He's also learned to blame Chase!!!  The other day Chase chewed up some stuff in his room and when you asked, "Wes, who made this mess?"  He would point at Chase where ever he was!  It was hilarious!!!! He was right, but it was still too funny!!! :)
  • He is hilarious!  He loves to clap and laugh.  If someone is laughing he will laugh really loud even though he has no idea what they are laughing about.
  • He LOVES other kids!  He doesn't really know how to play yet but he wants to be near any kids he sees and just watch what they're doing.
  • He has continued with his ear infection tradition!  One a month since December.  We go in again at the end of May to see how his ears are and then we may put tubes in depending on what they say...or sooner if we end up going in again with an unhappy baby.
  • He growls like a monster...I'm starting to wonder if he is possibly half dragon!
  • He gives kisses and high fives.
  • He is currently getting 8, yes that is EIGHT teeth at the same time!!!!  I'm surprised he's alive and functioning at all.  He's been a super trooper.  Besides the ear infections the only things we've been dealing with is 2 weeks of on and off diarrhea!  He hasn't been too fussy, mostly just needy.  Which I don't mind at all! :)
  • He is a cuddle bug.  In the mornings he will lay in bed with us while he has his morning milk and afterwards he will cuddle up to my shoulder and lay there with us...it's the BEST!!! He will cuddle up to Ryan if I'm not in bed! :)  He will hate that I wrote that! :)
  • He is sitting in a big boy car seat!  I know rear facing is safest but I took Wes to St. George for a work conference and I couldn't drive 4 hours without being able to see him or give him things so he went front facing and the sent hasn't been changed...oops!

  • He got an Easter basket with eggs full of peeps, a chocolate bar, and lots of Apple Jacks!!! :)  Those were his favorite because they made noises when he shook them.
  • He was the most HANDSOME little Easter boy I ever did see!  He looked so cute in his little outfit that he may never wear again.  It was too much work to try to keep it all together during church...shirt tucked it, pants pulled up, and tie straight!  Too much work...it is a pet peeve of mine to see little babies in church outfits that look so uncomfortable because there are 20 parts to them.  This was a special occasion only! :)
  • Oh, yeah, HE'S WALKING!!!!  It is the cutest thing I've ever seen!  This is his "walker" he pushes it everywhere!  It's really cute but he is starting to get around without it.  He is still a little unsteady but can get up on his own and walk around like a wobbly pro.  The best part is that he acts so proud of himself when he walks to you or gets to his destination.  He is so happy and I'm pretty sure he is waiting for the applause that he has become accustomed to. :)  This picture was at the Easter egg hunt at my moms house.
  • And what can I say?  The little kid is a giver!  He takes my stuff but replaces it with his! :)
Over all, Wes is AWESOME!  He makes our lives so much better.  We love him so much!
