LOVED

So, Ryan and I commute to SLC everyday for work and while I'm getting ready he makes my lunch...it's really sweet. Well, the past couple of days I've asked for a cheese sandwich (which I grill at work) and he takes care of the sides. Which have consisted of grapes, grape tomatoes, and today chips. The best part of him doing this service for me is how it's all packed. Like yesterday: two pieces of bread and a slice of WRAPPED cheese in the center! Good thing I checked before I grilled it! :) But, then today I got a SWEET surprise in my grapes...Fresh Raspberries! Yummy!
I feel LOVED!!!

You May Ask...

You may ask, "Nici, where will you be tomorrow night (TUESDAY) at 8:00pm?"

Well, here is my response...

Although, unlike this SNL clip...I'm undecided! You've got to watch this! :)

Random, Random, Random

Ok, so this post is all about RANDOM pictures!!!
This is Wes smiling...
This is Wes smiling while spitting up! :)
Wes has started holding onto toys and this one he loves because he likes the soft blanket part rubbed on his face when he's tired.
Thanks GRAMMY and GRAMPY! He loves it! :)
This photo is not staged...I looked over and he was sleep holding it! SO CUTE!!!
When Rachel was here we went to the fair in Orem and we got two dwarf frogs...they are so cute. We bought them a bowl and a fish friend. Don't worry the Walmart $2.08 fish has passed away...poor Sparky!
Ryan had his first Father's Day and I have to say I ROCK!!! He had a great day full of surprises. Including this little collage framed.
Father's Day morning!!! :) A smile and loves for Daddy!
The boys just waking up...check out that bed head! :)
Last week we went to the Bee's Game.... We had a good time. This is what Wes did most the game!
This was his cute outfit that Grandpa Back bought him!!! He's a baseball fan already!
This is old but for Memorial Day I wanted to do something different so I moved our dining room OUTSIDE! Yes, that is our dining room table and chairs! :) It was great weather and we sat out there and talked all evening. Ryan's mom and brother came over.
We BBQ'ed hamburgers...I had to take a picture! And YES...I tasted as good as it looks!!!! :)

Anyway, here are the RANDOM things that have been happening around the Jones House!

Meet Rachel

Meet Rachel...she is Wes' birth-mother. We have just finished a week of playing host & hostess to her, and it was a blast! I was very sad to see her go yesterday. Rachel and I have become so close since February. We were so blessed that such a great young woman found us to be the parents of her baby. This 16 year old is wise beyond her years and is one of the most unselfish people I have ever met. Her decision to place Wes was one that blessed the lives of 2 strangers and also one who she carried for 9 months but had never officially met. We love her and we're glad that she is apart of our family.
Here she is the day before Wes was born!
This past week we crammed so much into very few days... Wes pretty much slept through the night every night because he was so tired! I'm still not sure of what since he was in a stroller or being carried at all times! :)
We went to Park City. Rachel was obsessed with the mountains. She told her dad on the phone, "I can just look out my window and there they are!" :) She was constantly taking pictures of the scenery.
We went to the parade in Orem for "Orem Fest" I think it is called. We just heard there was a parade and we were there.
I'd also like to bare my testimony.... of WHITE NOISE! Wes slept through the entire parade...gun shots, marching bands, and police sirens! :)
We went to Bridal Veil Falls... We had to get in but it was FREEZING!!!! All the parents there who were letting their kids play in the SNOW water should have DCFS called on them. :)

Rachel was like the Paparazzi! No matter what I was doing with Wes she was taking pictures...bath time, changing time, getting dressed, sleeping! Here they are just before Wes went to sleep.
We were able to visit Temple Square, see the Joseph Smith movie, and tour the conference center. It was cool to take her to the Salt Lake City Temple since that is where we will be getting sealed in November!!!! :)

We also had my friend Jess and her 2 girls over for breakfast. Rachel does not eat eggs since her pregnancy but she had some I made and LOVED them...she says she is looking forward to the next visit to eat eggs! :) At the beginning of the week she was a picky eater to I asked what she eats and her response was, "chicken" so, I asked what kind she said, "chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches..." and the list went on. I just laughed, she's funny!
We had a great week. There were lots of funny things that happened like being mistaken for sisters! :)
And while at Costco waiting in line to pay for some pictures we started talking to this lady and it all came out the "this is Wes' birth-mother, and I'm his adoptive mother". This lady must not know anything about adoption because she asked "how does this whole birth-mother thing work?" But, the best part came when Rachel turned to pay for her picture and in the same voice she had been talking to us the whole time said, "So, has it been awkward with her here?" I answered the question with an obvious "No" and we left. On the way to the car we were talking about it and Rachel thought is was so funny. She said, "I should have turned around and said, "Hello, I'm standing right here...I can hear you!" I said, "yeah well I should have said, "yes" and just gone off about how weird it is with you right there!" It was pretty funny! Next time we will have to have a plan on how to respond to crazy question!! :)

Love ya Rach!

Melts My HEART!!!

So, the infamous smile has been captured!!! :)
This is the smile that Melts My HEART everyday...over and over and over again!

Things that make me SO HAPPY about being a MOM...

-Finding random pacifiers in my car, under couches, and in the wash.

-Seeing his endless smiles throughout the day.

-Watching his bottom lip shoot out like he's going to bust out crying and being about to turn it into a smile.

-Hearing him coo and try to communicate.

-Seeing bottles drying at any hour on our kitchen counter.

-When other people are holding him and he becomes fussy they hand him back and he settles right down.

-Being able to call myself "mama" :)

-And doing the evening feedings (every other night :)) when the house is a sleep and it's only me and him. He is just so lovable!!! :)

Beauty is ALL around us

Wes' birth mom is coming this Thursday to visit for a week and I'm so excited. Some people think this is weird and ask, "How do you feel about this?" Well, I love it or we wouldn't have invited her.
I'm excited for so many reasons...
1) Wes has grown so much and I'm excited for her to see him.
2) I miss her. This is a girl I talked to everyday for 2 months before he was born and now we don't talk as often. So, I'm excited to just have her here and talk to her about everything!
3) She's never been on a plane.
4) She has never been out of Oklahoma and Oklahoma is FLAT!!! Thinking about all the things we can do while she's here I've really been noticing my surrounding and UTAH IS BEAUTIFUL!!! The mountains are HUGE, AMAZING, and BEAUTIFUL. I drove to Park City last week for a work conference and the drive is breath taking. I'm not sure what we'll do there but I am totally taking her to Park City.

I think we tend to take the beauties of Utah for granted when we live here but for someone who has never been here it is really cool. So, that is what I will be doing for the next week...entertaining Wes' birth mom while showing her all the great things about Utah.
And hopefully one day she will come back to go to school at BYU! :) (hint, hint!!!)
